Hey all, I thought I had to post a review for this game, because this game don't deserve to be forgotten into the shadows.
I completed the game one month ago, and it’s one of the best games I Ever played.

I’ll use my normal ranking. 1-10, with 10 as best.

Total score 9.9/10

The good: Awesome and never seen before graphics, epic storyline, amazing and funny characters, amazing music, and different game play, very innovative with brush techniques.

The Bad: Okami could have more combat moves, and the voices tends to get annoying at the start.

Graphics.
The game has a completely, beautiful never seen before graphic. What we all like to call Japanese traditional calligraphy. Also called Sumi-e.
The graphics is so awesome, and beautiful, you can get hang up in each single detail, because there is no moment you will think “hey man that didn’t look good” which is the first time on the 6th generation. The game looks like art. The worlds have a lot of details, and beautiful colors. And what I was thinking when I played was “who the hell has drawn all this?”. It’s hard to describe the beauty of the game but I will give you a picture to see generally what you can expect.

Story.
it tells the story of peaceful land cursed by the reappearance of the eight-headed demon Orochi. A once beautiful landscape of lakes and fields, rivers and konohana trees bursting with cherry blossom has become a dark wasteland.
The tiny village of Kamiki stands no hope of surviving the destruction but for the power of Sakuya-hime, the enchanting spirit of the konohana tree. After sealing the village and its inhabitants in a mystical peach, Sakuya uses the last of her strength to summon the great sun goddess Amaterasu into the statue of the legendary white wolf Shiranui who, together with the hero Izanagi, had saved the village a hundred years previously during Orochi's last rampage.

As you've probably guessed by now, you take the role of Amaterasu but what's a hero's journey without an amusing side-kick? Ratchet has Clank, Jak has Daxter and Amaterasu has Issun. A tiny wandering artist that looks like a bug. And man you will be surprised later in the game. This little bug is doing all the talking, because Amaterasu is only a wolf, and wolf can’t speak can they? Speaking of speaking, hehe. What language are they speaking? We don’t know. But it sounds like hey uh yeuhah jah ayheyaj jheyaj he, it tends to get annoying at the start, but you’ll get used to it.
The game is big btw, very big. The story takes place over a big continent called Nippon.

Game play:
The game play is very good. You will use slash and dash techniques, in fighting but also performing brush techniques. Yeah you draw various signs for various spells, and as you progress into the game you will get more advanced spells, such as a big bomb and a secret fire technique. You will also use this brush outside the fighting for cutting stuff, making flowers, lightening, fire, water, wind. You will have to use the brush a lot.
Many places, in fact almost everywhere is the land cursed by Orochi’s darkness, called cursed zones. If you go into these zones you will lose your life. To get rid of the zones you will have to find a big cherry blossom tree, obviously dead, and re bloom it with your bloom brush technique. This will make the tree bloom and send out a power of flower, hehe. Into the whole area, this is one of the funniest and most beautiful parts of the game, where nice music is combined with flowers blooming and renewing the land to its natural beauty. Yeah the game is all about art.
In combat you will also have the choice between three different weapon types. A big shield, A rosary, and a sword, each with 5 different levels, and each weapon can be equpied in off hand or main hand having different tasks, either as range defending, slashing, shooting and different combos. You can combine a rosary in of hand with a sword in main hand, this tends to work out best, because the rosary works as a gun in of hand, and the sword is very powerful in main hand. Also each weapon level will have different combos, so you can say it’s a lot of different fighting styles, and you can learn more techniques so the game is varietied in its fighting although I wish each weapon had more combos.
You will also do meaningless fun stuff like feeding animals food, okay you get a little praise for it, it’s kinda cute.

Camera controls:
The camera control is good, could be better, but it’s never annoying, making the game more fun.
Innovative:
The game is the most innovative I have played, the game play, brush technique and the graphics is never seen before amazing stuff, that you always want more of.
Value:
Go and buy it, it’s worth the money! The game is huge! And one of the best games ever created; too bad it didn’t get more attention. So even if you have a ps3 or 360 or wii, this is still worth the play, it’s something you never seen before, and the graphics can’t be compared because it’s completely different, it’s beautiful, it’s art!

Update reminder: Okami is also for the Wii!!

Okay Anyone else would like to comment?
Say if I did something wrong, cus game reviewing previewing testing and that stuff, sounds like a fun job. And yeah I hope you buy this game, or get it in another way.

yes, i love this game a lot, it may even be my all time favorite game

, i think the camera is a little worse then you portrayed it, but it's still pretty good...but i agree, it's a definite buy...the sad thing is, that it kind of got buried by other great games that came out in '06, so it didn't get near as much credit as it deserved, also clover (the company that developed the game) got released by capcom, so the chance of seeing a sequel is pretty slim

I can get "emotionally involved" during a videogame...but lol@you. Sorry, it was needed, lol.

Meh. I heard about this game being the "great underdog" kind of thing.

But the whole "underdog" title kind of bugs me. I think a lot of people think it's amazing mainly because it didn't get much publicity, not because it's truly an awe inspiring game.

But meh. I haven't played it, only read the reviews

This really is a good review though Jorgi. Leon will gladly make you a member of the review team, I'm sure

Yeah I'm in it now, but the system was so advanced, and i didn't get the photo things, meh. And I didn't cry, but more like tears from my eyes

not crying.

And the game isn't amazing because it didn't get much publicity.
The game is amazing because of amazing graphics, story and innovative brush things like the brush.

To see what I can doo in reviewing and get feedback from what I do right and wrong, and what you guys think.

Get as many as possible on this forum to buy this game, because you simply can't miss it because it's one of the best games ever created.

yeah gamma, i suggest you at least rent it, and try it out...plus the game got great reviews from big magazines and websites
