| The Critic | Alright, I recently played the new Turok. So I'm making a review on it so you know I'm not done reviewing games and getting ready to do a No More Heroes review, Call of Duty 2 review, and probaly some old Nintendo games. Well, let's get started. ![]() Alright, well this is the new Turok. It's based on the Comic Books "Turok" which then were developed into games for the N64 and I think one on the GameCube. For hardcore Turok fans, this will not relive the great moments while playing Turok on the N64. There is barely any relevance except your name (Turok), your a Native American, and the bow. Now since this is a short review, I'm not going into a whole lotta backstory. But you're Turok, ex-member of Wolf Pack, you're looking for the leader, you crash on an alien planet. There you go. Survive. Alright. The A.I. for humans is pretty terrible for a current-gen game, they remind me of deaf people. The dinosaurs, however, their A.I. is AMAZING. They come at you in packs and their movements are extremely well done. The guns are basic. Nothing you haven't seen before. The coolest features, which are the instant kill attack with the Bowie knife and pinning an enemy against the wall with your Bow, are cool at first, but get old quick. In actual combat, there are barely any different enemies. Humans and different species of dinosaurs. One thing I really hated was bigger dinosaurs would knock you back if you got hit hard enough and right when you get up, you'd get hit again. Also the health system, which is similar to Halo and Call of Duty is annoying as all hell. When you have a lot of health loss, the screen becomes blurry and red (Blood, of course) which happens when you get knocked back by dinosaurs constantly and can't see ****. For what it is, it's good, but just another generic FPS. The single-player campaign is medium-length, about 10-12 hours, and the multiplayer is horrible compared to say, Call of Duty 4. Plus, you'll end up using your knife and bow the most (At least I did). All though the bow is sweet as hell. There are also poor checkpoints. The system sucks. Concept: Just another generic FPS that didn't live up to it's hype. If you want to play Turok, play the originals. Graphics: Amazing. Well it uses the Unreal 3 engine, so we'd expect the excellent graphics. The dinosaurs are just amazing in AI and design. Sound: Voice acting is decent. But there are some lame-jokes tagged in. Playability: Basically like any FPS. Entertaiment: There are a lot of issues, but it won't stop you from playing. But if you're looking for an epic Single-Player campaign, play Bioshock. For epic multiplayer, just play Call of Duty 4. Length: Actually pretty good for a FPS. Replay Value: Moderately Low. 7.25/10. Overall, it's worth renting. It has cool features, but a lot of issues that makes it not live up to it's hype.
