I was thinking this would be a fun discussion. What are some of the hardest classic games that you have beaten???

final fantasy 1 was difficult on the NES because of the limited nunber of spells you could cast. each spell on had 3 times you could use it.

The orginal castlevania the last few bosses and that stupid clock tower made me continue more times than I can count.

guardian legend the bosses are bad enough but the final boss takes 20 minutes of constant fire and dodging to kill him. for an early game that was rough

of course beating contra and life force without the code still two my best accomplishments.

so how about you.....

I agree, Silver surfer is a ****ed up game. You barely touch ONE pixel of an obstacle, and you die. The cannonballs that the cannons fire in the bird's-eye view part are barely visible.

I freaking went psycho every time I suffer a ridiculous death in that game. Horrible times...

Water Temple from Zelda OoT. Not really hard but very irritating.

@Rawk
Not all of castlevania was insanely hard but some parts were (for me that is) mainly because the action adventure genre isn't really my thing.

I never got past the Water Temple. I once told a friend of mine (who is a devout Zelda fanboy) this and he was like, WTF THE WATER TEMPLE?! THATS LIKE NOTHING!!!

He, of course, failed to realize that it wasn't too hard for me; I just lost interest because it was so tedious.

Oh snap, that game is totally downloadable on xbox live arcade. I played it at a friend's house, didn't get very far though.

We were doing co-op, there was one friggen achievement that we were both supposed to get, but it glitched and gave it to him but not me. D: So I got pissed off and didn't want to play it anymore, lol.

Zelda games are EZMODE.

For me anyways.

Not saying that they're bad games, on the contrary, that's one of my favorite series of all time, but they're still pretty easy.

Axel, I also find it hard to believe you'd actually played Silver Surfer before.

My gram had a NES that she ot from a friend of theirs, I used to go over there and play it when I was a bit younger, and the games that were included were: SMB, Duck Hunt, Trojan, Silver Surfer, TMNT, and some racing game.

I have played S.S. before...how wouldn't I have known what goes on the game if I hadn't played it? >_>

Probably a google search.

The game is pretty infamous for it's difficulty.

Hey, I had every right to doubt you, you've said before you never owned an NES, so that makes it kinda hard to believe you'd played a NES game.

Meh its alright, Rawk. Even though I didn't own one, didn't mean that any other relatives of mine still had one that was surprisingly working. Also, I didn't Google it, I used a small portion of my memory from when the NES was working (about 4 years ago, shocking, eh?) and I could play S.S. Plus, I'd only Google if I can't remember something, and need assistance (obvious use).

^ agreed.... Most of those above mentioned games I've played.... and beaten.... Contra on the other hand has worked me over every time I muster up the courage to play it, On another note Ikaruga... Not terribly hard to beat once you get it all down.... But getting a high score on ikaruga... now that is freaking impossible, unless your some korean gaming god and memorize every level to the pixel

^ I haven't even tried to beat I Wanna Be The Guy... That game made me cry just watching... crying cause i was laughing so hard at my friend for dieing at every step... that game is BS.... it should fall under Torture rather than a video game...
