| Lord Hokage Super Mod | This is pretty much a thread on whether or not you believe in good luck or bad luck, having taken this from the Karma thread, I'm sure alot of you guys, would have a lot to say. So discuss. I'll post my views on it, once I've seen others. | ||

![]() | hehehe nice topic! This should be fun I do not believe in good or bad luck. I believe in logic, rationality and coincidence. Stepping in dog-poo is not bad luck...its you not watching where you're walking. Falling pregnant the first time you have sex (yes yes I know, if you're a girl) is not bad luck, its you not doing what you should have done to avoid bun-in-said-oven. Winning on a scratchie (scratch & win lottery) is not good luck, its just coincidence and a few statistics thrown in that resulted in you recieving that one particular scratchie. Getting to the bus in time is not lucky, you just obviously managed to pull yourself together fast enough to make it on time. What we get and how we go in life is a direct result of our actions and choices. I think alot of the time ( now, I dont mean all the time ok?) people are either not able to give themselves kudos for getting things right (this relates to psychological issues that dont need to be in this thread...maybe another time lol) or refuse to admit that the way they handle their life is faulty. Yes, I do agree that there are cases where it does seem like a gift from either heaven or hell has landing at people's feet. But luck? I think not.

| Lord Hokage Super Mod | Wow, you kind of said what everyone else who's going to read this thread, was about to say xD Now everyone is going to be worried whether they're repeating you or not xD Same as you obsessive, I believe in Logic, blasted Science (if science is a factor xD). Example is entering a competition and winning it, the odds also play a factor here, like the odds maybe against you, but does that necessarily mean you're NOT going to win, NO. It means you have more of a chance of losing then winning. A slight chance of winning is still evident. Is winning this contest considered Lucky? I don't think so xD Still it is good to believe in a GOOD luck, I mean if you FEEL lucky, most likely you'll get positive results right? | ||

![]() | Believing that you have experienced something of good luck, would subconciously cause you to believe that you are being somehow 'cared for' by the universe. Care would equate to feelings of warmth and being loved. Hence it would be a positive influence on your sense of emotional well-being. lol basic psychology oh, and it would incite confidence in one's self a little.

| Lord Hokage Super Mod | Confidence does come a long way though. If you're confident in something, most likely you'll do well, and be confident enough to do well, right? I will also have to bring in the whole superstitions thing, such as Friday the 13th? Does it actually bring you bad luck, walking under ladders? Hmmm... Maybe, Maybe not? | ||

| Ex Admin Mod | Neither of them exist. Although having a positive outlook tends to result in positive reactions.

| Lord Hokage Super Mod | Which also brings about the idea of whether Good Luck, or Bad Luck actually exists. | ||

| Ex Admin Mod | It doesn't. There is no fate. Everything is decided beforehand, and it's up to you to guess right.

Friday 13th? again, I dont believe. Walking under ladders? lol well you dont need to believe in bad luck to know that it aint such a hot idea. If there is a ladder then the odds of someone using that ladder at the time are good. The odds of them doing origami at the top of that ladder are very low, but the odds of a person using paint or a hammer are quite high. Ergo if you walk under a ladder the odds of you getting hit or slopped on by something are very good.

![]() If everything is already decided, why and how should we make the right guess? The choice, by your statement, is made for us, therefore any choice we make, or any guess, will automatically be the right one. If we are able to guess, right or wrong, that implies there are two (at least) choices to choose from, does it not? Hence, the statement "There is no fate" by your rules is wrong because everything is not decided. If your statement were true, however, there would be no right or wrong guess. Any decision we make would be the 'right' one.

![]() It was Emarian who contradicted himself by saying that everything is decided and it's up to you "guess right". At the risk of repeating myself (and therefore getting a deletion! ) you can't guess right, wrong or in-between, if everything is already decided.There. I hope your happy. You've just made an old lady very confused. ![]() (Not that it takes much to do that, these day's )
