Parents are trying to ban games like it. They cant do that. Their the ones that have control over their kids why dont they just keep their kids from playing it. Some of the parents say that revolces violence among kids. And i dont just mean grand theif auto, i mean games like it. Who agrees and disagrees with them, "poles are aynonomis" Ones that want to be heard lieve a post.

| Teh Mar | So, the question is, "Should parents ban games, such as GTA, from their children because of the questionable mods and actions that are being taken placed?" Hmm, this seems like a good debate, but there already is a topic in Sony Chat about GTA: LCS. I'd check that one out first, before making a new topic if you want to talk about the game. If you want to debate about things, such as the Hot Coffee mod (made by PatrickW), then this topic could get a bit interesting.

![]() | I voted yes. But, there are some games that are not meant for children. But, then again, if they were "Responsible adults" they would ask before making a decision. Too many parents today are so caught up in the media that they want TV to be a babysitter. It's sad but unfortunately true. I don't see why they have to blame the last guy who made the first move. But this always happens when something considered dangerous by supposedly decent people perceive it as threatening. But a if they are decent people, they would experience what that thing is before throwing a pinkslip. Take music and films for an example. What happens today in films would have not been acceptable twenty to thirty odd years ago. Now its hard to even escape a movie without violence, bomb smoke, and dead people. Not that i'm complaining mind you. Same goes for music. Metal for a main example. Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Burn The Priest (Now known as Lamb Of God), basically any band that happened to distribute what is considered an angry message has been targeted by idiots. Because that's what they, idiots. Music, movies, and videogames are one thing and one thing only. Entertainment. Nothing more nothing less. They are not guidelines for everyday life. And if you think life is a sitcom, then you're a fool. So, please parents raise your own damn kids and try to do it responsibly. And for those who see all three mediums as something more than a visual/audio experience as entertainment or art, then maybe you should find a better outlet, because you are not meant to emmerse yourself in any of these activities. Thanks for listening to me rant and rave. Laters....

| The One and Only | Yes, because some children get the games way too early. I think the gaming community is too lenient on the rating systems. Plus, they should make it harder to buy Adult-Rated Games in stores.

![]() | I don't think they are too lenient. I believe that the ESRB is doing a great job enforcing the rating and distributing if games. Granted not all videogame stores are strict with the rules and don't always check for a photo ID. But, it's the parents responsibilty as well, to ask for and then buy. If you're going to buy something for your child, shouldn't you make sure that it's safe for them?

| The One and Only | No, its all the stores resposiblities not the parents. The stores need to control what they sell to who they sell too.

![]() | Not really. As a store, the employees can only go so far. They can be informative about the content of the game and check for photo ID, but that's about it. If a parent is going to be buying GTA for there 12-year-old, then they should know what it is they are exactly buying for them. It's the PARENT'S responsibility to take care of the kids. EB Games and Gamestop are not babysitters. True, stores need to control who they are selling their game to, but it's the parents, who are buying games for their underaged children nontheless, to know what they are getting themselves into. If a parent buys say Max Payne, they need to know what it is before doing so. So it is both parties responsibility, not just one or the other.

| The One and Only | Well, the state Im in, barley any parents go into the store with their kids. The employees sell them the game knowing the rating. When I was a kid, I only got stopped once buying a adult game.

![]() | Damn. What state are you in, and what store did you go to. That just enforces my idea that both parties are equally responsible. And if none are willing to take the cake, then neither party should be b*tching.
