| Dominique Reano | At what rate is time actually moving? Is time merely a concept? Does it really have any significant bearing to our intrinsic instincts? Is it merely a tool that we use in order to keep ourselves on a schedule? Can we manipulate the flow of time if it is a tool? Does it have power or at least control over our lives without us realizing it? How long is a second in all actuality? How long have you been alive? Is time infinite? These questions are quite interesting and require much thought in order for one to formulate a response that isn't fallible or an intelligent answer. At what rate does time move? I believe time doesn't move. I believe we are the ones moving. Time is static, always stationary. WE however, are constantly being either pulled back to our past or pushed toward our future. Our present condition is never the same, meaning each moment is always different from the last, and our current selves are affected by both our future and past. Is time merely a concept? I do believe that time is just a concept. It is only an idea we created to measure the intervals of one moment to the next and the many things that occur from our birth to our death and before and after those times. It is just an idea. Time isn't tangible and it can't be completely understood(at least not by one lacking intelligence like me). Does it really have any significant bearing to our intrinsic instincts? I believe it does. If you think about it, the sun and the moon are both affected by the concept of a time scheme. One is out at one point during a certain interval and the other at a different interval. These intervals are known as day and night. These time intervals affect our natural instincts. Our innate feelings as humans is to hunt during the day and reast during the night. We would live this way if we were'nt civilized. However this is not the norm for some people. In either case the concept of time does bear significance to our most primal instincts. Is it merely a tool that we use in order to keep ourselves on a schedule? It is a tool in my case. I use it so that I can have some order in my life. If I didn't use it then the fact that everybody else does would deteriorate my life in general. Time is important as a means of configuring the way in which you go about doing your everyday activities and when you do them. So for me, yeah. Can we manipulate the flow of time if it is a tool? I really don't believe the flow of time can be manipulated. We can use the rate at which it is thought to flow in order to manipulate the way in which a certain circumstance, situation, or action is perceived. I don't really know for sure though. Who does? Does it have power or at least control over our lives without us realizing it? It can, but only if you don't think about it. You can become a slave to ritualistic monotony and it can be surprisingly and subliminally subtle. I've seen it happen before, to myself. However I started thinking more and pondering issues and matters which had never crossed my mind in the past and now I'm more suited for thinking in a rationalized manner. After that change happened I started realizing I didn't have to let the schedule of time affect me so. How long is a second in all actuality? Now this might sound like a simple answer but a second lasts only as long as you think it does. The way you think might have an effect on this. How long have you been alive? This is also another question that can only be answered with a simple conclusion. My answer is just this: As long as I can remember. I may have been born a few months prior to my first memory but I don't think that really matters because I was unable to think and form a memory out of the images I saw, the voices I heard, the mood of the situations in which I was placed, or the emotions I felt, and so therefore, I was unable to do anything to better or dilapidate my life. Is time infinite? Time might keep going but to me time lasts only as long as you are alive. Time is determined by the person who's analyzing it. It might be measured in a standardized way but it is really the way an individual thinks and their perceptions that ultimately determine the length of a day, a second, and their life. We live only as long as we think we do. So anyways, that was my view on the topic and questions. If you would like to further discuss it then post or you can PM me. | ||

| Forum Admin and RPG admin | ya that's a very interesting discussion. I also have been thinking about his for a long time but I just get stuck every time when thinking about it. It's just weird what time really is. I don't think there is such thing as time. But as you said before it is merely a tool that we use in order to keep ourselves on a schedule. If we don't use the terms such as seconds ,min, day, year, etc. Then there would be so much confusions. I mean we also could have made de speed of 1 sec like the speed of 1 min. I mean is there really a proof that 1min is actually 60 sec. Why not 70 sec or 100? Or did we make a law that 60 sec is 1 min. It's like for example 12 apples is 1 dozen of apples(correct me if I'm wrong). I just think time is floating from itself.

Time exsists not just with humans, but with animals too, like, cows - what's that saying... ive forgot it now - but it goes along the lines of... 'til the cows come home. COWS KNOW THE TIME! | Dominique Reano | Time can be defined as the measurement of intervals throughout the span of given limits. For example, the measurement of one day till the next, one second to the next...etc. Time is.

Level: -INF [ ]Life: NAN / -INF | Time is a measurement and we use math and science to measure. Math is a tool of science and science is what we use to explain reality. Reality is what we use to explain every day phenomenons. Therefore, time is an analogy of what we use to explain how things progress.

![]() ![]() ![]() | time has no constant rate, it is however relative to the speed of the object experiancing time. say if (bob) leaves on a spaceship with his watch syncronised with (george). leaves for an hour (on his own watch) then comes back to earth to see george again, george wouldve waited longer than a hour to see bob again. Suppose that George left earth on the same spaceship at 1:00 p.m. travelling at a speed close to that of light, and suppose that Bill was in some way was looking at George's watch. Bill would realise that George's watch is advancing very slowly compared with his. So if Bill's watch said 2:00 p.m. then George's watch would have said 1:05 p.m. for example. On the other hand, George would see that Bill was acting a bit strange; he would see him doing everything pretty fast, as if he was in a movie that was being fast forwarded. i hope this helps
