Mac vs Windows

We need an official thread on this instead of all OS´s. This is JUST Mac v Windows.

So, I think Mac and Windows both suck. Why am I wrong?

well, since Linux came from Unix, and so did mac, i guess i would say mac was better.

but windows is okay too, but only once you take out all the crap that microsoft includes, and take out the viruses, and take out the "You have updated one tiny file you did not even know existed and we will now force you to restart no matter what the hell you were doing just to annoy you".

I love how you NEVER have to reboot in linux after updates.

Anyways, I don´t like Mac or Vista because they are both eye candy. People say vista is eye candy, LOOK AT OS X & LEOPARD. What is up with that HUGE toolbar with the HUGE icons? That is COMPLETELY useless. What´s wrong with a good old fashioned menu?

Well, I'm probably getting a Mac laptop over the summer because I already have a nice PC for games. I'm fully aware that a PC is more functional, but I just feel like giving the other side of the stick a test run. I'll probably be getting an entry level MacBook.

Anyhow, PC is much more functional than a Mac, obviously. Many more applications are applicable with it. On the other hand, the programs that come with a Mac are very well made and come with a huge variety of features. There's a pretty good article here:

I have a macbook pro and I'm not really that impressed with the programs. Photobooth was cool for awhile then it becomes kinda useless. Garage Band is a cool program like fruity loops but if you're not good at that you'll never use it. iMovie HD is good for basic movie editing but it's not the full program.

I don't really know of any programs worth mentioning...

I'm mainly referring to the whole iLife package; whenever I've used those programs in the past, I thought they were just very straightforward. You didn't have to read a manual to get something done well.

But what are the pros and cons of your purchase? Like I said, I'm thinking of getting one, so I'd like to hear about how you like yours

i agree that windows sucks...
mac isnt too bad, but it could be better.

I lied. IMovie HD is pretty good I just made a video from it. It's quite easy for noobs like me and it works well.

Um, overall it's good. It just really kills me that I can't play quality games on it. My biggest ERRRRR about having a mac. Otherwise programs run great.

Meh, I have seen Photobooth, and BluMonky is right. It is very nice, but the novelty wears off very quickly.

It made me laugh when I could make out with myself though.

im not sure why i complain about windows too much. i mean the error messages suck arse, but its compatible with anything at all out there, and if you stay clear of vista, works with almost anything. I love macs tho, i adore my ipod its like my baby lol

That's why my Lite is good. I hate those damn error messages also..

at the minute, its Threatfire that keeps alerting me saying it wants to delete a file but cant, but whenever i quarantine it crashes so i had to suspend it a while lol

cba finding the file myself =D
