just dint want you to go through what my uncle did lol
bought an allendale and couldnt shift it for ages. Ended up having to sell it for half what he bought it for, so he had to buy a really crappy Core 2 instead on Conroe, but hes overclocked it way beyond the limit, like most Core 2's are capable of =D

he did like 1.8 to 2.7 and it didnt bat an eyelid lol

correct it is =D

but all processors made by Intel are given codenames. Any core 2 duo processor with 2mb of cache has the codename "Allendale" but any core 2 duo with 4mb of cache has the codename "Conroe". Due to limitations in the OS, Mac will only run on Conroe processors because it needs the extra cache space =]

there are cracks that will allow you to use Allendales tho, but you have to run a program all the time, and it slows everything down a bit

but yeah, mac themselves use Conroes not Allendales because they are slightly faster. Tbh its not all that noticable in terms of speed

any day its better, vista lags on even the best PCs because of halfarsed software production, early releases and even crapper service pack releases

XP is riddled with viruses and trojans and tons of spy/ad/malware. Infact, most windows apps are =]

and linux is only good for hardware enthusiasts and people who like the internet and nothing else because no games will play on it and it isnt all that good at graphic design either.

i mean, even judging by the negatives of all the other OS's available, its the best choice, but after all these years of Mac only changing certain things about their designs since the original release of OSX, its still one of the freshest looking, smoothest running, and best made OS's available on the market. If you dont go for it when you have the opportunity, your mad, cos your missing out.

in a nutshell, get it =D

It runs 100% without lag on a 1ghz, 1gb RAM, 30gb HD laptop. That's a perfectly average PC. I have yet to get lag using Vista for everyday tasks.

NOD32 is a very simple anti-virus. It does not include a firewall or live protection (Well, it does, but I disabled it.) I have yet to get a virus for about a couple months. O.O

I have no idea what you are talking about..Linux is changing the entire world, namely the flavor Ubuntu.

I mean, seriously. WHAT THE F*CK? I mean, everyone exaggerates, but this is downright ridiculous. I do not exaggerate when I say changing the world.

Ubuntu is free, simple to install and use, open-source, and many others.

Ubuntu is now used in education throughout primary and elementary schools to teach children, especially in Africa, where neither Mac nor Windows can be afforded.

Ubuntu can also be installed on older PCs that are not very strong to bring power to the older generations.

Just about all Windows/Macintosh applications/games can be run in Linux. That means hundreds of games, along with the benefits of both Apple/Microsoft.

And Linux is the absolute best for server development and GFX design. Hell, both Microsoft and Apple use Linux to run their servers. Not Windows or Macs, but Linux.

Almost every program made for Linux is also free due to the fact that Linux is open-source in itself. When you get Linux, you also get thousands of other free and powerful applications.

Don't make me go on...You can say whatever you want about Windows, but stay away from Linux. It's changing the world, and only a fool says otherwise.

Apple is probably the worst OS ever when it comes to eye-candy. Talking about eye-candy, that's all Mac ever is. The only reason people say it's smooth running is because they don't know how to use it. The reason businesses and tech professionals do not use Mac is because it's useless for anything other than web surfing or other basic tools. And when it comes to freshest-looking, NOTHING beats linux.

You find me ANY OS that can beat this, and I'll resign.

mehh i prefer hardware to software, its more interesting and fiddly, like my feeble interlect. You make good points, which i took little notice of, i prefer Mac becuase it is usable, non-third party, and it works for all you need it to work for.

and if its any concelation - you can play ALL windows games on Macs through emulators =]

sorry for double posts, but i have to say one thing - isnt the window theme vista on that demo?

oh and the reason you buy a mac is because of the hardware too. If you want a PC you go to loads of companies or make your own. If you want a real Mac you go TO MAC. they are flawless
