I love the design, it is so nice.

I love that you can search the whole computer in seconds everywhere from your PC in all folders, it is incredibly easy.
I love how everything blends.
I love how easy everything is.
I love the small animations.
I love DX10.
I love the Vista sidebar.
I love change between windows.
I love "show desktop shortcut"
I love how fast and easy you can browse and search through your PC.
I love the Vista Media center. Especially since I have a remote control.
I love that everything is WAY more secure. The registry is more secure, and you get far less viruses and ad ware.


But most of all:

I love the Windows Vista ready boost.

It's a program that allows you to use a memory stick as RAM. I have 10 GB of ram now. and the memory sticks cost like 10$. The computer is so fast now Never should I care about memory again!


There is also a program that allows you to transfer some of your memory to the graphics card, this doesn't help THAT much, because the clock speed remains the same, but the animations will load faster, and yeah it's more memory on the GFX, it's a good thing, I noticed I had a small improvement in
frame rates.

This program says it only works on Vista, but I think you can find one for XP as well, I don't know.

Vista Transformation Pack for XP runs faster than Vista...(And has almost every feature)

Beryl for Ubuntu uses only 64 MB RAM, and is considered by all computer experts to be FAR beyond the competition. Even Mac has a better look.

Windows Media Center sucks, but hey, you can use WINE to put it on Ubuntu, and XP also has Media Center.

Indexing service. XP, Ubuntu, Vista, and Mac has it. That's how you "search so fast". Almost any major OS can do it.

Just the OS in Vista uses 512MB-1GB RAM, compare that to Ubuntu's & XP's 64MB RAM. (Technically, it's 32MB if you install it on a separate computer and then switch the HD). For example, I have a computer with 2GB RAM, Geforce 8200, and Intel Core Duo 1.6Ghz. It can barely run Halo 2 on medium settings in Vista, but with the XP hack, it easily runs Halo 2 with full settings at 100% in XP. Gamma also can't play H1 on his PC on Vista without massive lag; however, when he switches to XP, no lag. Same goes for stuff such as Photoshop.

XP/Ubuntu >>>> Vista in terms of speed. It's simply how much RAM the OS uses. No way around it.

Just as easy as XP, nowhere near as easy as Ubuntu.

You can download external sidebars just as "good" as the Vista sidebar (I hate sidebars) and Ubuntu and Mac also come with far better sidebars with way more functions anyways.

That takes like a second to do in XP, are you running out of ideas? Ubuntu also comes with that capability.

You have to have an antivirus for halfway decent security, even if (Pah, Vista security sucks, weak and uses way too much memory.) you have Vista. Which means that the OS tools are pointless because a decent suite will do a far better job anyways.

Lololol this is called a buffer cache. It is NOT RAM..It's basically the exact same thing as virtual memory, except on a different drive. You may have 10GB virtual memory, but 10GB physical memory is WAY faster. Virtual is nothing compared to physical. When OS's are out that require 10GB RAM, your virtual memory cannot handle it. It's more of an illusion than anything.

And that "program" was stolen from Ubuntu's source code. That was the big issue about Vista stealing from Linux's source code (And Microsuck admitted it!) along with other convenience and security features. Microsuck simply just re-made the code after Linux's model after people got angry at Microsuck. Ubuntu has it, and there are thousands of programs for XP that can do it. I BELIEVE (99% sure) that Mac also has it in-built.




...In Conclusion, Vista is OK, but nothing special. Linux is much better anyways.

I choose to not say much because I never tried Linux, but I tried Xp and it sucks compared to Vista.

Vista runs way better, faster, has a way better design, and is way easier to navigate. Out of personal experience.
Also it IS more secure then the XP, of course I disabled Windows Defender, but it's overall more secure.

Xp does NOT have the search function? It takes hours to search, but with vista it's a small tool that you can search every folder anytime, I find it very useful.

Yeah it's just my personal experience. I love Vista And it runs way faster with the ready boost....

Security is nothing Kaspersky doesn't fix. Vista does not run faster. End of story. Better design & navigation - Vista Transformation Pack. Runs better - Ok then. And that's why 50% of programs aren't compatible. (PeerGuardian 2, etc.)

Just because you don't know how to turn on the advanced search, that doesn't mean that XP doesn't have it. Your personal experience? You barely know how to use XP and you're trashing it. o.o

Go to my computer, right click each hard drive, properties, and enable indexing service. Done.

Please read my info about readyboost. There are SEVERAL programs that do the same thing for XP.

And thank you for not trashing Linux when you've never tried it. It is so much better.
