Most Overrated Games.

I can't find any section that this would go under. So say what the most overrated games are. They don't have to be modern-day video games, either.

And if you want, throw in some underrated games.

Overrated:

1)Halo trilogy
2)Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
3)Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Underrated:

1)Dead Rising
2)God of War
3)God of War II
4)Bully.

Under rated definitely Secret Of Evermore and Chronotrigger, both games should have gotten better recognition.

Btw, these games are from the SNES.

How could I of forgotten Gears of War as an overrated game?

More overrated games:

Runescape
World of Worldcraft
EA Skate

More underrated games:

State of Emegency
Many of the Mario games. Seriously, no one has ever heard of the first three Mario games, nor a NES or SNES, in modern-times.
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4.

Most of these "underrated" games have gotten their due recognition. People always say games are underrated just because they're not played quite as often as others.

And my god, people; okami, God of War, bully, dead rising, and ALL metal gear games have gotten their due recognition. oh, and for hell's sake, i haven't met one person who hasn't played the original marios, Bully.

Ugh. This annoys me; and many of these games you call overrated, you say that because everyone plays them. That doesn't make them "bad" at all. The Halo Trilogy simply has a forumla that most people enjoy; it's doing something right. Doesn't mean you have to complain about it, lol.

Gears of War; again, very popular, doing something right.

i never said that being overrated made it a bad game i was just saying that those games were and are overrated >.<

and MGacid was overlooked...people didn't give it half a chance cause it was a turned based card battle game...and just saying that would give people a bad image of the game...but it was a really good game

...I know of many people, and many review, that said otherwise. The game wasn't overrated or overlooked; i just know that many people didn't like it.

Lol; just because you like it and not many others do doesn't make it underrated.

And again; who's to say that the games you mentioned are overrated and not just plain "a hell of a lotta fun"?

well one of the main reasons why i think GOW is overratted, cause at xplay's gphoria GOW took every numah 1 spot it was nominated in, and after play GOW i don't think it deserved that many awards

Of course they have, but some games deserve more.

I have. Clearly where I live, no one has even saw the cartridge of the original Mario games. I'm not talking about if they were overrated back then, just for modern-day. Also, my interpretation of what I call underrated and overrated may be different from yours. And of course games have gotten their recognition, but a lot of games get too much.

And overrated games aren't neccasarily(sp?) bad, just talked about to much and people exaggerate about it being "the best game ever." I know it's opinions, but there are more games that have more potential than these "overrated" games.

So to make it easier to understand:

Overrated Games: Games that are hyped about way too much and is getting more credit than it deserves.

Underrated Games: Games that have more potential than the overrated games, but doesn't get enough credit as it deserves.

Also, I base these are what people say about the certain game. And a lot of modern-day "gamers" (I put quotes as in they aren't really into games, or just started playing them) And if I say "Have you played God of War or Dead Rising"? They mostly say they've never heard of it. But if I say something like "Have played Halo" they get all excited and rant how it's the best game ever.

I'm just saying, there are much better games that are never talked about anymore. Like the first Halo, 6 years later, is still talked about.

And example with underrated games like God of War II, when it was released, I was flipping out from excitement and everyone thinks I'm on coke and they say "What the hell is God of War? It sounds gay" I only have two friends in my school that are fans of the two games. Everyone else has never heard of it.

It only got good reviews because of the chainsaw bayonet, multiplayer, and the graphics. Which to me are too dull.

Guys; seriously, you are just not liking things because they are mainstream.

I say again:

THEY MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT.

I actually loved the GoW storyline. I loved the multiplayer. I loved the gameplay. I loved the graphics. I loved the weapons.

And where I am, Bully, everyone has heard of Dead Rising and played it. Most of America has, actually, lol. (that owns a 360.)

anyway, ya.

Like I said, there are very few "underrated" games...they are just games that aren't "mainstream" - that doesn't mean they are underrated; most all games get reviewed, and if they're great, mainstream or not, they will be reviewed accordingly.
