Since the internet became a wide and varied sorce of information, sites that stream media and video have spead like wildfire. However, there are some sites that attempt to predict what music you will like, to varying degrees of success. Most of the better ones work by gaining knowledge of your listening habbits, so i recommend signing up to your chosen service to gain more precise playlists and recommendations. Here is a basic outline of some good services:

Yahoo Music Launchcast Radio

Possibly the most common of the sites, but my least favourite. the playback qaulity of the songs is aweful, and the qaulity of recommendations poor.

Yahoo! Music - Internet Radio, Music Videos, Artists, Music News, Interviews, Performances, and more

Purevolume

This site is mainly aimed at fans of the rock genre and its many subgenres. For fans of rock this gives a good service, a simple click of the browse button gives you hundreds of bands you could enjoy.

Pandora

Pandora is slightly hindered that its only available to residents of america, but its playback qaulity and reccomendation qaulity are much improved over similar sites.

Also, there is a pandoras box program that enables you to listen to its recommendations without having a browser open.

Last.fm -

Gamefreak's recommendation!!

The qaulity of playback on this site is higher than the others, and gives you a wider range of bands, some you will like but some you wont. ban the ones you dont like and it learns your listening habbits, giving you better results i used the last.fm for MS windows program rather than the site.

My least favourite, alongside yahoo. It gives some good recommendations, and its visual interface is easy to navigate. However without a playback system it seriously lags compared to the others. However the movie search is interesting

Youtube has almost everything and if it doesn't i just do a quick search on google and that'll usually lead me to one of those sites.

because you need to search on youtube, and google, you cant really call that "discovering" new music. o.0. its just finding out more things about the music you already know.
