![]() | I should probably start off by saying that I am about 1/2 of the way into the book. Things to discuss: The "erasing" of the past...do you believe it is actually possible? ___ as a political statement, making love to "stick it to the man" (Julia and Winston). Is it right? As a follow up...Winston says "That all above was what he wanted to hear. Not merely the love of one person, but the animal instinct that would tear the Party to shreds." If the emotional attachment in ___ is what separates humans from animals (that reproduce with the lack of an emotional bond), than what have these people become? Are they considered human (emotionally, mentally) if their entire lives, even love, is controlled? What makes us human? | |||||||||||
