| Whore | ok, now i've decided im probably gonna get a new laptop with Vista and instal Linux myself and use a dual boot type thingy. (this is what im lookin at, what do you think? HP G6062ea TK57 2GB 15.4" Laptop - Tesco.Direct ) i may have a problem, how do i go about putting my iTunes onto Linux, will this work? cos i am NOT re-ripping 12GB worth of CDs ![]() im asking mainly cos iv heard things about Linux not recognising MP3's, which obviously is gonna cause major problems, i could use Vista for my itunes if i needed to, but it would be a pain if i did! also, i need to keep all my college work, does OpenOffice open Microsoft Word 2003 docs? i may have more questions soon, cos i think i might get the laptop soon, or if not then upgrade my current one. | ||

![]() | Ok so the first thing you really need to know is what linux is! first off linux is mainly a web developers system its designed mainly for programmers and developers for a normal user there is not much there it hasnt been designed for multimedia and so on! could you tell me what you are going to use linux for? if i was you i would keep vista and if your thinking of programming and stuff like that then do the dual boot e.g. have both systems on there but use the windows system for all your main needs like multimedia and leave linux for your more in depth work like developing programes and creating websites!

![]() ![]() ![]() | 1st thing, linux can hold mp3's if you have VLC installed.... i believe. and open office can open MS office 2003 documents.

i want linux for a cheap alternative to windows that doesn't get viruses and has a few other cool features (which i have looked into), plus i want to get into programming anyway. linux sounds pretty much perfect for me.
