| GL's Moogle Pirate (Senior) | I know there is a way to get windows apps on linux (WINE and Qemu), but is there a way to play Mac apps on linux. I don't use linux, but I am just curious.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | No clue, Emarian just got me into Linux (which I am currently on There may be.........let me check........as far as I can see, no, OSX and Linux are both flavours of unix, but they are not binary compatible. But there is a program called MOL (Mac on Linux) So I'm not too sure, you'll have to wait for Emarian to get on XD he knows all about Linux. | |||||||||||

| Ex Admin (Mod) | No. There is none. There's none the other way around either. Mac is based partly on Unix, but the GUI and most of the libraries were entirely scripted by Apple. If a program tried to rebuild the API of these programs, Apple could sue under copyright. So, it probably won't happen unless a program is made that rebuilds the API using entirely it's own source (And that would take just as long as the WINE project.) However, Mac does not have exclusives (Near as many) as Windows does. Most games ported to Mac are also ported to Linux, and just about every (Possibly all, not sure) game on Mac is also on Windows. If it's on Windows, it can be rebuilt for LInux using WINE. Also, most Mac apps such as the dockbar have Linux equivalents. Hell, everything out there has a Linux equivalent. But if you are REALLY wanting to run a SPECIFIC Mac-app.... Mac-on-Linux EDIT: If you don't want to Mac-on-Linux, your best bet is to just install OS X Leopard on your Windows PC. Main Page - OSx86

| GL's Moogle Pirate (Senior) | I didn't say that at all. I said if you tried to install it over windows, then you would lose everything you have on your computer, unless you partitioned your hard drive.

| Ex Admin (Mod) | If you install Linux while Windows is already installed, Ubuntu will ask you how much % space you want to allocate towards Windows. Then it automatically sets you up with a dualboot. As long as you know how to type "50", then you can do a dualboot.
