| L73 Mage | Hey, this has happened to me once before, when i go to play my age old NES i often get a problem where the system will just keep flashing on and off. The cables all work (tested them on my SNES) its on the correct channel, umm i dont know what else to say. Anyone have any solutions, i know i got it to work once before but i dont remember what i did. P.S. i know i could just get an emulator but i love the feel of the controller and the system.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Could be one of 2 things: 1) the game cartridge that you are playing may need some cleaning. Get a Q-tip and some rubbing alcohol and clean it out. 2) the copper prongs on the inside of the NES need to be replaced or cleaned. Get a finger nail file and stick it in and out of the NES from left to right (don't slide it from left to right, put it in pull it out move a little left or right (whichever way you are going) put it back in and repeat)

| Lv 30 Priest Content Team | Sure sounds like it. I have a few older ones, like my Genisis and NES, but I don't really know much about them. | ||

| L73 Mage | Okay well, i tried your advice and it didn't work, so i literally dismantled my entire system, cleaned it all, checked all the wires, tried it didn't work. So, for shelving purposes i go to put it back together, and i try it one last time...IT WORKS!!! Still playing Star Tropics right now just got to the 2nd levels boss.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nice, I was about to suggest that you buy steel prongs and replace the copper one. Seeing as how copper corrodes over time and steel doesn't......but you got it working so all is well.
