| Lv 75 Priest Content Team(Senior) | Armagedd0nn's *Ultimate* Guide to Schizoid! Contents: 1. Armagedd0nn's Quick Review of Schizoid 2. Schizoid Basics 3. The Enemies 4. Achievement Guide 5. Conclusion The Quick Review: Schizoid is an Xbox Live Arcade Game, it costs 800MSP and it was made available for purchase on July 9, 2008. This game is said to be "The most co-op game ever" which led me and my friend into purchasing it. After sitting there for 3 days with no good co-op games to play we had finally found what we needed. This game offers one of the most co-op experiences to date. The goal of the game is to make it to the last level and complete it, as it is in many other games. But what makes this game a real treat is how it works. The two of you must work together really well if you want this game to work as you must protect each other, or you will pay the price. Each player controls their own ship, player 1 controls a Blue ship and player 2 gets a red ship. Each must use his ship to defend the other player and clear out monsters. The monsters are either blue or red, and only the same colour of ship is able to kill the monster by simply running into it. If a red enemy was to touch the blue ship, the blue ship dies and you lose a life. That being said you could see how this game revolves around a more co-op type of game, but it is made even more difficult by the types of enemies you encounter later on in the game. The enemy types will be covered in the enemies section of this guide. The games simple gameplay and charming graphics make it one of the best arcade games to date, I rank it up there even with Geometry Wars. I suggest if you have a friend willing to play, that you purchase this game. I give it a 9/10. Schizoid Basics: While Schizoid sounds like a simple game, it is a little more complex then you'd think. The controls are quite simplistic, the left stick controls your ship, unless you are playing Uberschizoid mode, then the left stick controls the blue ship and the right stick controls the red ship. That is really all the controls you need to know. Red Ship: Blue Ship: ![]() The game consists of 119 levels and various game modes. There is a Local Co-op mode, which you and a friend play together on the same console, a Xbox Live Mode where you and a friend play together over Xbox Live, a "Wingbot Training Mode" which allows you to be the blue ship and a computer controls the red ship and of course, Uberschizoid mode which allows you to play completely solo, controlling both ships. A key thing to being successful at Schizoid is staying close together as you need the other player to stay alive. Since the opposite colour of ship kills you, you'll need to be near each other to protect each other. The levels are in a checkpoint structure. Each 7 levels you will recieve a checkpoint where your lives are reset back to 10. If you lose all of your lifes you can restart on the first level of the set of 7 you died on. A great thing about this game is if you have Gold Starred a level, it skips it if you replay the set of 7 levels that the gold starred level is in. This helps if you are stuck on a really challenging level, try to gold star levels before it so you can skip them and spare a few extra lives for the level you are stuck on. You can play levels alone in the Single level mode. Any levels you Gold Star in this mode, become gold starred in your career mode. To gold star a level you must beat it, without you or your buddy dying. That is generally all you need to know to play Schizoid, the only thing left is the enemies, which we will be covering in the next section. The Enemies of Schizoid: Schizoid wouldn't be too challenging if there was only one type of foe for you to destroy, now would it? In this section we will cover the different enemies you will encounter while playing through the game. Enemy One - Scorpios Scorpios are really easy to defeat, they move slow so when the chase you it is easy to evade them while your partner tries to destroy them. Scorpios will lock onto you and try to chase you, but if you reach a certain distance they stop chasing you. Scorpio: ![]() Enemy Two - Flitts These guys are annoying when paired up with other enemies. They are circles that move in random directions and they follow no patterns making them annoying. Another problem with them is their ability to turn into Schizzes.Shizzes are the same, but they cannot be killed as they lose their colour. try to get these guys before they change, they also have the ability to duplicate so watch out. Shizzes can be killed by powerups such as the razor wire and smartbomb. Later on you will face the "Slow Flitt" these ones have a slow poison on them, and when you destroy them it makes your ship slower, which is very annoying. Flitt: ![]() Shizz: ![]() Enemy Three - Stars/Flowers These are one of the enemies that cause a lot of problems. They will home in on you and chase you forever, until your friend manages to kill them. They travel roughly the same speed as your ship making them hard to dodge, especially while turning (This caused my friend A LOT of trouble). While turning you cannot, I repeat CANNOT turn too sharp, or they will get you. You have to take really wide turns. Star/Flower: ![]() Enemy Four - Breeders Breeders themselves don't cause much problems, it is what they create that will make things turn bad, quickly. As the name inplies, they breed things, well really they lay eggs, which hatch into enemies, usualy they hatch into Stars/Flowers, Scorpios or Flitts. What makes these guys rather annoying is that some times the breeder itself is blue, but it lays red eggs or vice versa. This makes it even more difficult to destroy them. Breeder: ![]() Enemy Five - Astramoebas These guys are a pain, and destroying them is based on co-op work. The inside circle of them is like a flitt but it will home in on you, but not with as much intesity as the Star/Flower. On the outside things called Orbiddles which colour is opposite then that of the inside of the Astramoebas. With practice it is easily possible to destroy the without the other player "shaving" the Orbiddles off of it. Astramoebas: ![]() Note: These next enemies I do not know the name of but will still list them. Enemy Six - "Shooters" These enemies as all the others later on, are unique and use both blue and red colours. The enemy itself will be one colour and it will shoot bullets which are the opposite colour of the enemy itself. They shoot bullets roughly every 2 or so seconds. They really around a problem for me, but they caused my friend a bit of trouble. if you are having trouble with them you can get your partner to block the bullets for you while you move in to destroy it. Shooter: ![]() Enemy Seven - "Circle Shooters" This enemy is very similar to the enemy above, the "Shooter". The difference is that this enemy shoots bullets out in a full circle outward. It is impossible to kill these enemies without the help of your buddy. Once you get the hang of it, the aren't too hard to kill. Circle Shooter: ![]() That is a list of the enemies I know of. I am almost certain that is all of them. There may be one more but I haven't encountered it yet. Achievement Guide: This section of the guide is dedicated to my good friend, achievements. When I first downloaded this game, the achievements had me very confused. I did not understand at all what they meant, or how to achieve them. So hopefully, by reading this guide, you have the knowledge as to what the achievements mean. Here is the list of all 12 achievements in the game and under them is strategies you can use to get them: 1. Wired Destroy an enemy with a razorwire. This achievement is actually very simple, and you will obtain it on level in the campaign mode. 2. Playing The Field Play a game in each mode - Xbox LIVE, Local Co-Op, Wingman Bot Training, and Uberschizoid. This achievement is quite self-explanitory, just play a game in each mode, simple. 3. Sploderific Destroy all enemies on level 12 ("Smartbomb") with a single smartbomb. This achievement is actually really easy. One of you grab the bomb and bring it under the square where all the enemies are and center yourself. The guy without the bomb will need to activate it once you are in place, boom all the enemies should die and you have your achievement. 4. Barber Of Schizzville Shave the Orbiddles from 8 Astramoebas on a level, without destroying Astramoebas or losing a life. This is in the top 3 for the hardest achievement in my opinion. I got this as the blue ship on level 74 "Fairly Odd Couple". This level is by far the easiest to get it on, but you have to be the blue ship to get it on this level. 5. Schiz Hunter Destroy 30 Schizzes on a single level, using powerups and without losing any lives. This is easily obtainable on level 38. if you head to the top corner and grab the smart bomb and use it near the middle of the level with your partner it will eliminate most of the enemies. grab the razorwire and wipe out the rest of the enemies in the level. 6. Flitt Breeder Get a gold medal on level 5 ("My Man Flitt") without destroying any Flitts. This one is annoying, you have to wait it out and try to dodge the Flitts until they turn into the "Sun Flitts". Once they all turn, you get your achievement, aslong as neither of you died. 7. 21st Century Schizoid Man Complete level 21 ("Tyger Tyger") either in Local Co-Op, Xbox LIVE, or Uberschizoid. Another straight forward achievement, just make it to level 21 and complete it. 8. One Mind, Two Goals Earn 20 silver or gold medals in Uberschizoid mode. This achievement may be challenging for those of you who do it by yourself. But to cheat the system you can get a friend to move the other ship on the right stick for you. It may be awkward sitting close and using the same controller, but hey, you need this achievement! 9. Schizoid Sensei Earn 10 medals (any combination of gold, silver, and bronze) over Xbox LIVE. This is easy, just get a friend who has the game and play through the first 10 levels. They are pretty easy to get all golds on. 10. Huevos Done Naked Gold level 47 ("Los Huevos") without activating any powerups. This achievement is pretty difficult. make sure you and your friend stick together on this one. Me and my friend used a similar strategy to the one in this video: YouTube - Schizoid level 47- "Los Huevos" 11. Seafood Buffet Destroy 2500 Scorpios. This will come in time, just keep enjoying this awesome game and you'll get it eventually. 12. Corpus Callosum Severed Complete level 119 ("Ragnarok") in Uberschizoid mode. This achievement will be the hardest. The only way to make this achievement easier on yourself is to get a friend and use the same method as you did for the One Mind, Two Goals achievement. Good luck making it to level 119 without killing your friend. Achievements rule, and the more you have, the bigger your penis is. So go get those achievements! Conclusion: Schizoid rocks and is a great game for you and your friend, or siblings. Though some levels can cause fights between yourselves. I'd recommend this game to anyone who has someone to play it with really. If you don't have any one to play it with I wouldn't recommend it. You could play over Xbox live, but the couple of seconds it takes to hear the others voice makes it hard to communicate as quick as you need to. Challenging, fun, it'll keep you coming back for more. great game. Hopefully this guide will help atleast one person with something... or maybe make someone at least buy the game.
