How To - Tactical Ops

Tactical Ops Assault on Terror is an online multi player computer game, Tactical ops started as a Unreal Tournament (S.W.A.T. 1.0 beta to S.W.A.T. 1.1, Tactical Ops 1.2 to 2.2) modification, In 2002 it had become a retail and released in the U.S in April.

The game was developed by Kamehan Studios.

The latest version (Unofficial v3.5.0) was released by a fans of the Tactical Ops Community which was released on 16.03.05.

The official version (Official 3.4.0).

On April 1, 2005 Tactical Operations: Crossfire was announced, an unofficial sequel to Tactical Ops created by people from both the original TO team, the 3.5 creators and TOST.

TO3 A mod using the UT3 engine is currently under way by a team of dedicated developers, this project is picking up steam and looks to surpass TO-C in realism/detail and playability.

To install Tactical Ops : Assault On Terror insert the CD, Once inserted follow the instructions and install.

Once installed start up Tactical Ops by going to Start > All Programs > Infogrames > TacticalOps.exe

Now Tactical Ops has started you must now configure your game options by going to > Options > Preferences

Configure Resolution, Colour (Color), World Texture Detail, Skin Detail, Brightness, GUI Mouse Speed, GUI Skin, Frame rate, Effects Detail and Partical Details

The game isn't too complicated apart from learning all of the maps, Any one who has played Counter Strike will be familiar with this game and even think it's better though Counter Strike may be more on the "Realism side"

- Team Based Operations

Tactical ops is based on 2 teams, The good (Special Forces) and The bad (Terrorist), Each team has there own player model / skins / voices / weapons / sex and of course in game objectives.

= Plant / Defuse Bomb =

This objective is mainly for Terrorist, The terrorist have to plant the bomb at the assigned bomb site before the time runs out, One terrorist will be chosen randomly and will hold the bomb, you may throw the bomb away to another player if you wish if you do not know if you have the Bomb simply press F1 or you will see a flashing green and red icon on the right side of your HUD that shows that you have the C4 Bomb.

To plant the bomb you must visit the assigned bomb destination they may be one spot or even two, To plant it Crouch down and hold down your fire button what ever it may be it will take 5 seconds to plant and 1 minute to explode so get away as quickly as possible or it could be fatal make sure you defend the bomb until the bomb has around 10-20 seconds to explode before you run away because once it is defused you will lose the round.

= Rescue Hostages =

This objective is mainly for Special Forces, The Special Forces will have to go to a certain spot to rescue the hostages of course the Terrorist can also move the Hostages to another destination to make it harder for the Special Forces to find them and rescue them, If one of the three hostages are dead the round cannot be completed therefore you must finish off killing the hostages to win the round.

= Capture the O.I.C.W =

This objective is mainly for Terrorist, Terrorist will have to go to a certain spot to obtain the O.I.C.W this is one of the best weapons in the game and cannot be bought unless the server allows so, The Special Forces will have to defend the O.I.C.W if a Terrorist dies with the weapon it is possible for the opposite team to retrieve the weapon and use it at will so it's best to keep the weapon safe.

= Escape =

This objective is for only for Terrorist, Terrorist will have to escape using a assigned spot which will allow them to escape, If all Terrorist escape unharmed you will win the round, The Special Forces have a special job to make sure no one escapes the map

= Hacking =

This is for both teams the Special Forces & Terrorist, Both teams have a assigned spot in each team base where they will have to go and hack what ever is there, If you stop hacking you will have to start all over again.

= Pump =

This is for both teams the Special Forces & Terrorist, Each team must pump water into there water tank without being attacked, If you full up your water tank first you will win the round.

This is just a short summary of how the Money System Works on Tactical Ops.

1st Round : Start off with $1000

Kill an Enemy: +$300
Kill an Hostage: -$2000
Kill an Team mate: -$1200

Win the Round: +$2500
Lose the Round: +$2000

Rescue an Hostage: +$1000
Keeping Evidence (Marijuana, Cocaine, Dirty Money): +$300

The weapon system is not like Unreal Tournament, All weapons must be bought unlike Unreal Tournament weapons are picked up instead of bought, If some one has died in a game you can (the only time you can) pick up there weapon or swap it.
You can only HOLD 7 Knives, 1 Pistol Gun, 1 SMG Gun, 1 Rifle Gun & 1 Grenade only along with your Armour & Night Vision.

There is a wide variety of weapons to chose from each one different and unique for each team, As stated above you can also pick up other weapons from the opposite or same team.

= Grenades =

It's always good to have a skilled team that can use grenades effectively, If played right it can be lethal.
First of all you may need to go in 2's or 3's, Have 2 HE Grenades, 1 Flash Bang or 2 Flash Bangs and 1 HE Grenade, What you really need to do is throw one of the flash grenades into the opposing force then a couple seconds later throw the HE grenades the opposing force cannot see for around 5-15 seconds before he or she knows he/she is dead, This is effective on opposing forces who rush in groups.

= Attack in couples =

This Strategy is effective only if you are both skilled, You may want to always rush in pairs when attacking in pairs it is faster to kill the enemy with less damage done do you or your partner.

= Camping =

This Strategy is effective if you are the only one left on your team, There are many camping spots but you can be easily killed, If you are the only one left it is best to camp and let the team come to you instead of you going to them, Unless you are very skilled you may want to attack then just stay in one spot.

= Always know when to cover your skin =

It's always best to attack in corners when part of your skin is covered this means it is harder for your enemy to attack you from any where else.

= Dodging =

This is the best skill you can have when it comes to close to close combat you need tp be very skilled for this, To do this you must move left, right, jump when ever you can to avoid bullets coming from the opposing force once they have to reload it's your turn to attack simply just run and attack.

= Know how to aim =

It's always best to crouch and aim, If you are standing up you bullets will be accurate but not as accurate as crouching down, Using weapons such as the MSG 90 which have scopes it is best to aim crouching and having your scope at x4, Weapons such as the M16a2 and the Desert eagle which both have Lazer Sight can enhance your aiming by %166.

= Know when to reload =

It's always best to reload if you have a few bullets left in your magazine if you are low reload where your skin is covered, You never know what's coming around the corner.

These commands aren't needed in the game but if you wish to use them please do.

= Adminlogin (Password)
This will log you in as the server administrator

= Adminlogout
This will log you out.

= AdminReset
This will reset the map completely

= Endround
This will end the round completely but this can be easily done by pressing Numpad #9

= Kick (ID)
This will simply kick the player from the server

= PTempKickBan (ID)
This will simply temporarily kick the player from the server

= Kickban (ID)
This will simply kick and ban the player from the server

= Switchlevel (Map name)
This will simply change the current server map

This will simply open up the administrator panel

This will go throw a series of options which will show your weapons in your HUD

= colorblind
This will change your current Cross hair to the color blue

= votemap TO-(Map name)
This will simply vote for the map you want, this can be done during the game or at the end of the map, You need a certain amount of votes to get your map

= vote (ID)
This will vote out the player you want to, You need a certain amount of votes to vote the player out, This is useful if some one is cheating in the game.

= Suicide
Feel free to find out your self :P

= Showteaminfo
Will simply show how many Special Forces, Terrorist and hostages are left.

To start your server you may start the game and configure the settings manually

Your server has now been started (You must configure your settings in the Tactical Ops game by going to Start Multi player Game, Once set up you may now start your game).

If your server is currently being used by cheaters you may want to add this protection file to your system folder by simply copy and pasting this into your internet browser
