![]() ![]() | you cant put it into the fridge. It wont work. The parts would freeze because of the temperature. Your pc should not be anything less than 10 degrees of room temp or the pressure will be messed up and your fans would freeze. Overclocking is one of the best ways to get an experience in gaming if your computer is junk- err no.. rubbish, and you are going to buy a new computer. Might as well see what a 6600 looks like on a 4400... Also that alienware comment with that they safely overclock their computers i dont think its true because that would result in thousands of broken computers because of that.... Overclocking is unsafe and provides different results even with the same hardware. It depends on the attributes of your computer. Ex, the 10 gb will probably be broken but not the 100 gb one. Well im off, comment more. Can we make this a sticky thread?

Level: -INF [ ]Life: NAN / -INF | In our crysis group about 2/3s of us are overclocked with no probs. Most of us are running core2 duos and they seem to be the best for overclocking due to how cool they run. Also don't forget you can only overclock as far as your memory will let you. Here is some good info if you are really interested in overclocking Overclock.net - Overclocking.net - articles/overclocking-guide.htm the best tip I can give is be careful and do SMALL changes so you don't hurt anything

![]() | I've always regarded overclocking as very very risky. To start with, if you're running a laptop, you have a fatal chance of causing your processor to melt, since the components are spaced too close together, and the fact that the fan most times simply can't move enough air. I have considered doing it, but rejected overclocking due to the fact that I can't create a good enough heatsink. Take SEVERE caution when overclocking.

| Ex Admin Mod | Does anyone have any idea what they're talking about..? I bet not one person here has actually overclocked diddly squat...I've read all of these posts and most are totally wrong. 1. If you replace your air cooler with a liquid cooler, it's simply a unscrew, pop off, pop on, screw process. A retard could do it. O.O It's not such a big deal...And the trace amounts of liquid nitrogen are so small that it will never form a mist..you won't even SEE it. It's not like you have to take it apart to put it in, you just put it on. Whether or not it uses nitrogen, it doesn't matter. 2. It's an OPTION to get Alienware computers overclocked, they don't do it by default. The specs that they show are the REAL specs, not the overclocked ones. Anything else is a violation of law for misrepresenting advertisements. 3. Overclocking is completely safe. It's only dangerous when you don't know what you're doing, like everyone that has previously posted in this thread. The right % of overclocking will not damage a computer unless it's a total piece of crap, in which case, overclocking is useless anyways. I've overclocked tons of computers and I've never had an issue. I'd say the percentage of destroying a computer by overclocking, if it's done by someone knowledgeable, is about .5%.
