How to Play Pac-Man Goal of the Game The goal is to get PacMan to eat all the dots and avoid being eaten by a Ghost. The game ends if PacMan eats all the dots or dies by being eaten by a ghost. Initial Game State Pacman, the Maze, 4 Ghosts, numerous Dots (Power Pills), and 4 'Super' Dots (larger Power Pills) arrow keys orient PacMan to face north, east, west, or south (hold down an arrow key as you near a corner to turn) p: pause/unpause game q: quit n: new game Behaviors Dots (Power Pills) are stationary. PacMan and the Ghosts move. PacMan moves continuously forward in the direction in which he is oriented unless: He hits a wall, in which case he stops. He can be coerced to move again if an arrow key is used to orient him in a direction where there is no wall. He is eaten by a Ghost, in which case the game ends. When PacMan collides with a Dot, he "eats" it without pausing. The Dot disappears and does not reappear. If PacMan collides with a Ghost the consequences depend on the state of the Ghost. If the Ghost Looks brightly colored (the default state): The Ghost eats PacMan (you lose). Looks faded (dark blue, because PacMan has recently eaten a 'Super' Dot: PacMan eats the Ghost. Looks like a pair of eyes (because it has as recently been eaten by PacMan and is traveling back to the center of the Maze to be re-activated): Neither gets eaten; they pass through each other wihtout pause and can occupy the same space at the same time. If PacMan collides with one of the four larger Power Pills, which are special Dots located in the four corners of the maze: He eats it, after which the Power Pill does not reappear For a a short period of time the Ghosts change: they fade (turn dark blue), move slower than PacMan, and are edible by PacMan. Points Points are earned when PacMan eats a Dot (Power Pill) (10 pts) 'Super' Dot, one of four at the corners (50 pts) Ghost (200/400/800/1600 pts for 1st/2nd/3d/4th) Let's play Pac-Man!

Pacman's on ecstasy. (That's why the ghosts turn blue, probably also why there's an ecstasy pill called the 'Blue Ghost') Who else but ravers listen to repetitive noises, running around a room, munching on "power pills"? Add that to your guide. :P | |||||||||||
