The First Decade Review & Thoughts | | I recently downloaded Command And Conquer: The First Decade. When I first downloaded it, I was looking forward to playing other C&C games other than Red Alert 1. I installed it, all options. The installer was nice and easy. When I ran the launcher and the screen came up asking me to choose which game I wished to launch, I immediately thought "Why not make direct shortcuts like normal games?". Nevertheless, I choose to run Red Alert 2. It ran fast, and I was pleased. However, 4 hours into the game when I was nearing beating the Allied Campaign, my game suffered an "internal error". I was pissed, cause I lost all my time (Didn't enable auto-save). I also suffered a Tiberian Sun "Out of memory" error. I've run games that require 1.2gb memory, and a 98 game was saying "Out Of Memory". I actually had to exit other programs to get the old game to work. It ran fine. However, even with the games, I didn't like it very much. I expected more. EA Games took another company's work, and pretty much bundled it together, slapped a new sticker on, and put it on the market. They put in the cheap launcher to make it seem new. What really made me angry was, I didn't get any map editors. I called up EA Games to ask where the Map Editors were, and they told me that "We don't support the Map Editors because they were not made by us". That annoyed me, considering that they had the nerve to sell it, but not support it. All in all, I give TFD a 6/10 rating. The games themselves seemed much better than the bug support and features though.
