Nintendo: What's Wrong?


Has Nintendo gone mad? I think that they may just be... Now I have always been a big Nintendo fam boy, but now it seems as if they just do not care any longer like they used to with older consoles such as the NES, SNES, and even the N64. Nintendo Has been making some bad choices in many areas such as marketing and other things like naming the systems. Even a name like the Nintendo 64 which is so obvious sounds better than their new name for the Revolution: Wii. Personally I think that it's just Nintendo wanting to be artsy. It seems to me that they are caring less about the raw game but rather the look. If you look at the number of games on the PS2 and compare them to the number on the gamecube, there is a HUGE difference. If you keep every single game on the GameCube and take only the really good games on the PS2 there is still more games. Pretty sad if you ask me. It is a shame though, as some of the characters in the entire gaming industry belong soley on the Nintendo systems; which is fine, but when people want a game with one of those characters it's Mario--in yet another sports game or Mario Party. Sure, the games are fun but, come on. The same things tend to become bores (Though this isn't as bad as naming the Revolution Wii...).

Another particularily large mistake of Nintendo's was completely selling Rare out to Microsoft. Wow. That was really dumb. In selling Rare, Nintendo lost what they had: Banjo Kazooie, Conker, and what would have been Kameo. And the last game that Nintendo made with Rare was Star Fox Advemtures... Not even a very good ending game (It was okay I guess...).

I absolutely hate the fact that Nintendo has been delaying Twilight Princess for so long. Who doesn't? This game was so looked forward to by so many people, that delaying it once was a horrible idea, and now it has been delayed, how many times? Three? Four? We have been waiting too long for this. For people to really get what they want out of this game, it has to be about 72 hours long with some insanely awesome features and groundbreaking--In this case, sword breaking combat. This game had better be what Nintendo has said it will be or I, with many others will be extremely mad.

Moving along with other stupid things Nintendo has done wrong, is the change of the code-name which was the Revolution to Wii. Nintendo's Excuse and yes I say excuse, is this:

"Introducing...Wii.
As in "we."
While the code-name "Revolution" expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games...and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean? Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes this console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No Need to abbreviate. Just Wii. Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd. So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because, it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii. And together, Wii will change evrything."

Nintendo's words: "...Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes this console is for everyone..." My words: "...Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes stupid..."
That sounds like a good artsy approach, but the name itself is stupid... "...Because, it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii..." Umm can we say: All your base?

Alright, enough of really hard bashing of Nintendo. I can only think of one thing good that Nintendo is planning on; and that is keeping the prices down on the Rev--I mean Wii... To be about $150, just like the 'Cube. That's really the only thing I can think of that is positive about Nintendo. They are pretty much digging themselves deeper and deeper, and in time, will have a nice, deep hole dug for their whole corporation to fit into... Sorry Nintendo...

man i don't care if they call it zmack for all I care it depends if the gameplay is good... of course i'm a hardcore nintendo fanboy whose never played halo except once with my friends. I personally think they are going the right way with nintendo there certainly getting back their fans who are going back to nintendo since the *flop* of the x-box 360 and with red steel who can resist the Wii
