So, when I was at college this year I finally got myself to watch an anime. It was the first episode of Bleach and I literally had to force myself to keep watching. You don't know how bad I just wanted to close out of it.

I just don't understand why people like it. The humor is terrible, the animation is pathetic, and it is just overall uninteresting. Now maybe I'm just generalizing but is there an anime you think I would like? Is Bleach just not a good one? Is the first episode bad? Any suggestions or comments on anything would be great. But as of now I'd say Doug Funnie kicks the **** out of any anime character.

bleach for me was okay at first, but then it got boring.

naruto was similar, but i got bored of that much much faster.

when you watch movies, what is your favorite genre? perhaps i could recommend a anime that you might like, but my comfort zone is comedy/romance.... but i know bits of lots of genres too.

I like all genres so comedy/romance could definitely work. I was thinking maybe horror and action but I think that's what Bleach was and I never want to think about that show again.

Elfen lied (horror/drama/various others)
Blood+ (action/horror)
Tenjou Tenge (martial arts, a bit of a long shot this one, but i like it.)
Chobits (comedy)
Deathnote (Drama, makes you think)
School rumble (seinen rom-com)
Please teacher (same as above)
Ah! my goddess (same as above)

ones i have not watched but heard good things about:

Hellsing
Beserk
Devil May Cry

I just watched Full Metal Panic. It was actually alright. Not incredible but much better than Bleach. For some reason I was kind of turned off when I found out it was a school show. Every show is about school, I go there for 8 months of the year, show me something else. lol

I'm going to look for more rom-com's. More suggestions would be great.

also da capo (the anime, not the game) is quite good, but as it progresses it turns into more of a harem, which is not so good.

bobobo bo bobo is really funny, and utter random. a bit of a acquired taste that one. some people says it tries to hard to be funny though.

i also hear some good things about lucky star, but not seen that yet either.

Yeah but the ones you listed are "School Rumble" and "Please Teacher" read my above post where it says I don't want more school shows. Lol. I'll try it anyways.

also perhaps you should forget da capo, since thats kinda school based, and i dont know about lucky star)

id deffo try chobits first though. then elfen lied, those are the 2 best ones. in my opinion.

Some other anime i would recommend in the Romance/Comedy genre would be
-Love Hina (with like 3 episodes out of a manga arc called Love Hina Again)
-Try Chobits, although i never finished it i think i probably should have
-Lucky Star sooo funny and random

Also, i find Bleach to be a usually boring anime, the fights are great dont get me wrong, but they often just take too long to pick up. And the first few episodes are complete sh**.

And another incredible Anime, is Fullmetal Alchemist which is just truly amazing.

Yeah Bleach is just a terrible show...

Best ones for me (and I don't like many either) were

Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist - both are pretty short too, so it's easier to finish the series.
